Looting/Repatriation Issues
 

HMS's founder, Erik Ledbetter, played a central role in facilitating the development of national and international museum professional policy on issues relating to responsible stewardship of cultural property. While at American Alliance of Museums he created the Nazi-era Provenance Internet Portal and sheparded the development of AAM's Standards Regarding Archeological Materials and Ancient Art.

Erik is an active as an undergraduate and graduate lecturer and public speaker in the following areas:

  • Nazi-era assets claims and policy
  • Responsible acqusition of archaelogical materials and ancient art
  • Looting in times of armed conflict

HMS is not presently consulting in these fields, but Erik welcomes opportunties to teach and interact with students and the public on these topics. Past appearances include seminars at Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, and Seaton Hall University.
